With Scotland’s Year of Young People 2018 setting the scene, EUROCITIES 2018 Edinburgh is offering a special young ambassadors programme which will run throughout the conference.
EUROCITIES members are invited to bring a young person to Edinburgh, who is actively engaged in shaping local or European politics, to give a young person’s perspective.
The young ambassadors will be key participants in this year’s conference. There will be plenty of opportunities to get involved, including having an active voice in the discussions, helping to shape the programme and the debates, or to simply participate.
Young volunteers will help prepare the plenary debates on stage with a strong focus on citizens’ participation in shaping policy making in Europe’s cities of tomorrow. Other young ambassadors will be ‘keynote listeners’, who actively listen, take in, analyse and later share their reflections on what they are hearing. Highlights will include opportunities to take part in a young ambassadors’ debate and the closing plenary on the last day of the conference.
The young people will meet other young people engaged in changing the way decisions are made and politics are done, as well as politicians from cities all over Europe, at local, national and European level.
The deadline for member cities to nominate young ambassadors has now passed. A reduced registration fee of €116 plus VAT for young ambassadors applies..
There has been an excellent response from members keen to embrace this exciting opportunity and we are really looking forward to welcoming all these young ambassadors from cities across Europe to Edinburgh.
